What is the Brand Index?
The web has pages for people.
Agents need a place to start.
Brands deserve a voice. Agents need useful sources.
We’re building a place where the two can meet.
Discovery begins with a question.
Which product fits my team? Who can help with this problem? What makes this business different?
When someone asks an AI agent those questions, they are asking it to make sense of a world of businesses. We believe that deserves a better starting point: information that is easy to find, clear about its source, and useful for the decision at hand.
That is the idea behind Brand Index. A place to discover and retrieve structured information about brands: what they do, who they serve and what they offer.
A brand’s story is scattered.
A website says one thing. A directory has an older description. A review describes a product that has since changed. Even the same name can refer to different businesses.
An agent needs more than another paragraph. It needs context: which business this is, where the information came from, and whether the owner stands behind it. We believe those distinctions should be visible, not left for the reader to guess.
Brand Index brings brand information into a structured record. It includes information sourced from public materials and records that owners have reviewed and published. Those are different kinds of sources, and should be treated that way.
Brands should be able to speak for themselves.
A business should have a place to say: this is what we do, these are our products, and this is the information we approve.
That place is BrandVault. Owners can claim their brand, verify ownership, prepare their information and approve what gets published. An agent can help with the work. The owner decides what to stand behind.
Owner approval tells you who is responsible for a statement. It is not independent proof that every statement is true, and it does not replace reviews, reporting or other evidence. A brand’s own account belongs alongside those sources, with its origin clear.
Agents need an index.
We want useful businesses to be easier to discover and understand. We want agents to spend less effort piecing together basic facts and more effort helping people make good decisions.
Brand Index is the discovery and retrieval side. BrandVault is the owner’s publishing side. Optimly connects them.
You can search the index to explore its records, or use the developer reference to understand how to work with Optimly. Our ambition is simple: make brand information easier to use, without hiding where it came from.
Publishing is the beginning.
Making information available is one step. Understanding what AI actually says is another.
Our reports help brands see how models describe and recommend them across the questions tested. The answers can reveal a misunderstanding, a missing connection or a reason to make the record clearer. Measurement should show what was observed and where its limits are.
BrandVault is free to claim and publish. Paid services add deeper measurement, market intelligence and advisory. Paying for those services does not buy a recommendation from an AI model. Publishing a record does not guarantee that an agent will retrieve or cite it.
What we are here to do
Help the right businesses find their customers, and help the right customers find the right business.
That is why the Brand Index exists.
